And after 16 years of marriage…
I have a whole list of reasons why I love my guy!

But here are just a few…
Because with hair or without hair…
my husband is awesome!

Because clearly…he’s gifted when it comes to sports.
Because whenever he falls down…he’s quick to get back up…
though we are avoiding roller skating for a while.
…because his engineering and construction training comes in handy
when you want to build a massive Lego tram across your family room.
…because almost no one else I know has stopped at “Fake Stonehenge” to fly kites…
but with Jason….those kind of stops are always a MUST.
…because he took me to 80′s Prom and even rode the MAX train there….
which takes courage when you are wearing a teal sweater.
…because our dog loves him almost as much as I do.
…because every Christmas morning he wears the same Superman shirt.
…because he asked me to take this picture.
…and this picture.
…because we’ve shared so many precious memories (picking up Selah in Georgia).
…because he is always willing to “help” put the kiddos down for naps.
…because we’ve gone through some really hard times together.
…and we’ve wept together until we had no tears left…but I’ve seen the reality of his Faith…
…because he would do this– attach firecrackers to the back of his remote control car…
…because he likes to take our kids (and any neighbor kids he can gather) on night walks…
and they LOVE to follow him…
…because he likes building sand castles even more than the kids do…
…because….well…there’s just not a lot to say about this one…
…because he will stop shoveling the driveway to have a snowball fight…
…because he gave up his inside parking spot so I could have a playroom (and installed the carpet when I was gone for the weekend to surprise me)….
…because he takes us to watch the Vaux Swifts every year…and because he even knows about the Vaux Swifts…
…because he seriously cheers for beef jerky. Every time…
…because he lives on the edge and takes on danger…
…because his bedtime stories will make your jaw drop…
…because he left gang life and now hangs out with the Easter-egg decorating crowd…
…because he has a real relationship with each one of our kiddos…
…because he loves his PEEPS…
…because he is constantly teaching and explaining things…
…because I love watching him with the boys…
…because he wants so much to raise our kiddos to know and love the Lord…
…because everyone wants to participate when he is reading bedtime books…
…because he’s a dad who joins in the fun…
…because I like his friends (even Buster)…
…because he collects rocks…
…because we’ve shared SO SO SO many special memories together….
…because, he is worse than the kids when you’re trying to just get a normal photo…
…because he puts up with my crazy ideas… like hatching duck eggs…
…because he will walk Lydia around for hours…
…because he apparently collects granola bars too…
kinda reminds me of the kid who stashes his vegetables in his pocket at dinner
and then hucks them over the backyard fence when his mom isn’t looking

(oh wait–that was Jason too)…
…because he is willing to take on an adventure with close friends…
…because he will attach fireworks to his scooter and ride around the neighborhood…
…because he loves to “join himself ” into our friends’ couples’ shots…
…because he considers dirt-collecting and dam-building necessarily skills...
…because he makes our kiddos do chores and then works hard right along side…
…because his cardboard-box-surfing was what eventually what won me over…
…because when it comes to Nerf Gun Capture the Flag…
he’s incredible…
just…because.
…because he puts up with my eccentric decor tastes…
…because he involves the kiddos in his workouts…
…because he spends time studying God’s Word.
…because again…he’s always willing to help with nap time…
…because he tells great stories…
BECAUSE…he has my heart…and he always will…
…my True Grit guy.
I’m so thankful for you Jason…
God knew…
God knew…
just who I would need.
