Bringing Nature Indoors (with nature table ideas)

Because…
The heavens declare the glory of God;
The skies proclaim the work of His hands…
~Psalm 19:1
And because…

Our rock collection…

Our Jordan River Stones…

Mailed to us by my friend Anna-Marie

We’ve had this same plant for 16+ years and it has attached itself to the wall…

My friend Cheryl introduced me to this idea..

I know this isn’t nature related…but Cheryl has really good ideas,
and I couldn’t pass this up!

Our son’s bug collection…received when he turned 8

It’s impossible to miss God’s amazing creation in these incredible bugs…

I’d love to find Natural Science Through the Seasons for our own collection,
but had to settle on borrowing it through inter-library-loan.
I took photos of all the calendars and plan to share those with you soon…
“I so long to grow deeper in astonished wonder.
For too long I raced through life with my eyes straight ahead,
not pausing long enough to look down at the flowers
or up at the twinkle of stars.
When you see the heavens, do you see the glory of God?
Do you experience the wonder at God’s creation?
If not, stop racing long enough to turn your gaze up
and ask the Father to pour wonder into your heart.
It’s a prayer He loves to answer.”

Love everything and I’m with you, if you ever find that Natural Science through the seasons book, PLEASE let me know!

    • Kari–I had to return it to the libaray…but I took photos of the calendars and “ideas pages” and hope to get those posted shortly. Feel free to save and print for yourself. I’m hoping the quality will be good enough to print for myself in 8 X 10’s and to put with our nature stuff :)

  3. Hi Kara,

What a lovely, natural decor style you have! I really like the shelves you have in the first picture as well as your son’s bug collection. By chance do you remember where you purchased those items?

Thank you for sharing and inspiring! You’re inspiring me to put some time and energy into decorating the playroom/ study room.

The shelves are from Costco. I have planned to paint them, but decided to leave them that color. The bug collection was off ebay…
Our middle-little-guy LOVES bugs and they are truly incredible.
We have our own live stick-bugs and Madagascar Hissers…even those just amaze me.

  4. Wow! You have your very own science and nature museum right in your home! It is AWESOME! Psalm 19 is my absolute favorite, and you just confirmed for me again, why it’s so incredible.
So glad to have found you on NOB!

  5. What fantastic ideas! It’s like having a little nature museum in your home. I love the chart idea… even if I don’t have kids yet. I’m going to file that one away. And the quote by Martin Luther is great! thanks for sharing! God’s blessings!
