Pears and God’s Truth

But the LORD said to Samuel, For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. ~ 1 Samuel 16:7

…so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.
~ 2 Corinthians  5:12

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. ~Matthew 23:27

…having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. ~ 2 Timothy 3:5

Behold, You delight in truth in the inward being, and You teach me wisdom in the secret heart. ~Psalm 51:6

How have you seen God’s Truth in every-day-life this week?

AND, my kids will be seeing this post first thing in the morning for the awesome object lesson. Thank you.

I showed ours too…I was sad…they looked SO good (from the outside).
And it was actually the whole batch. I cut open 4 and they were all totally rotten inside :( Thanks for sharing Sarah…

Sharing this with my kids too! It’s especially relevant since we’re going through the book of Matthew in family worship.

I shared with ours as well…it’s so easy to think we can judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart…but only God sees. We have been going through Luke. I’m always amazed by the way Jesus can get to the deep root of what is going on within a person…what their true needs are. Love that!

I loved those scripture thoughts. It is always so easy to judge one from their outside appearance. It is wonderful to know and believe that our Heavenly Father loves us and see into our hearts. It takes daily practice to love purely and look at one another as a brother, sister and child of God. Loved this one!

      I agree…it’s both convicting…and reassuring.
I used to love a song called “My Father’s Eyes”…about wanting to see things with His eyes.

This is a wonderful visual for these scriptures. It’s funny you would post this, yesterday my son and I went for a walk and I hadn’t changed out of my ratty old sweats. I asked him if he would be ashamed to be seen with me. He said, “It’s not what’s on the outside that matters.” My heart melted. Blessings, Kara!

      I love his response… :)
So fun to see you here Lynda…now that I’m “on break” maybe I’ll actually get around to visiting you all more often…thankful for the way you’ve reached out to me over the years. Love, K

I feel the same Kara. I’m really praying life will slow down for me soon. I’ve missed reading your posts, and keeping up with all my friends. You were so wonderful to stay at NOBH for so long. I knew it was a struggle for you but I just wasn’t ready to let you go. Sorry for being selfish. You’re a beautiful person with a heart of gold. God broke the mold….

:) Don’t you love when He gives a visual like that?

  • GailBP

Great illustration! And how disappointing it is to find something that looks good on the outside and is rotten inside. Won’t forget this thought today!

Me neither Gail…it was such a good visual. The whole batch was like that…beautiful on the outside…and each one, completely rotten within.
