Why I Want His Kind of Love…
There’s romance, affection.
Desire and obsession.
Passion, infatuation.
Delight with flirtation.
There’s love grown at distance,
And love that takes courage.
There’s love born from friendship,
And love that leaves baggage.
Love slowly budding,
And love out of season.
But real love is His love–
A love beyond reason.
For when my love keeps count
Of grievances and past wrongs.
His love covers hurts,
Offering grace-mercy songs.
And when my love protects self,
Self-centered, self-seeking.
His love breaks down walls,
Honoring promises, over feelings.
My love, is so faithless,
Resentment creeps in.
His love is so faithful,
Enduring within.
My love, often rude,
And impatient at best.
His love, so forgiving,
A long-suffering rest.
So as I consider His love
Like no other.
I ask Him for that love–
That gives all for another.
A love, full of action
And not empty words.
A love that forgives
And a love that endures.
I thank Him for His love,
How deep, high and wide.
His love that was offered
When to Him I cried.
Real love is His love,
Through the Cross, now obtaining.
Real love is God’s love,
A love never failing.
God’s words of love to you…
This is my commandment,
that you love one another as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one that this,
that someone lays down his life for his friends.
~John 15: 12 & 13
For God so love the world,
that he gave His only Son,
that whoever believes in Him,
should not perish but have eternal life.
~John 3:16
