I love having a January birthday.
Because if I miss the new year opportunity for new year’s opportunities…
I get another chance 13 days later.
And that’s what happened this year.
Most of my new year’s resolutions (which I prefer to call possibilities) are very similar to last year’s.
Less of ________ .
And more of ________.
“The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year.
It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose;
new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes.
Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions,
he would make no resolutions.
Unless a man starts afresh about things,
he will certainly do nothing effective.
Unless a man starts on the strange assumption
that he has never existed before,
it is quite certain that he will never exist afterwards.
Unless a man is born again,
he shall by no means enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
“Starts afresh about things…”
It has been such a wonderful birthday….
Ikea with a friend, two books finished, kiddos who decorated the kitchen, a Sunday nap, Thai food twice in one weekend, long distance love from special friends, a surprise coffee/walk this morning, good cake, and a husband willing to watch a “girl movie” (which honestly was probably more of a “middle school girl movie”).
And now it’s time to think about tomorrow and 2014.
To start afresh about things.
Don’t you love fresh starts?

P.S. I hope to return later this week with my book list for 2014, so if you have any loved-books-suggestions…please leave them in the comments below. I will also be posting a series of recommended resources that go along with the parenting class that my husband and his friend are leading at our church.
